Standardization Specification: This product is standardized to contain 17.6-32.9 mg/day of Ephedrine, 39.2-73.0 mg/day of Paeoniflorin, and 22.6-42.1 mg/day of Glycyrrhizin. Therapeutic Recommendation (Sho): Available in the Professional Catalog. Request it from Honso USA with a valid healthcare professional license. Abdominal Diagnosis (Hara): Medium abdominal tension with pressure pain around umbilicus. Note: Stiffness shoulder and neck may be major indication for Kakkon-to. TCM Formulation Strategy: Ge gen, the chief herb, releases the muscle layer by expelling the wind-cold. Ma huang and gui zhi, the deputies, help the chief herb release the exterior and relieve the muscle layer. Shao yao, sheng jiang, and da zao are the assistants. Shao yao preserves the yin by preventing ma huang and gui zhi from causing excessive sweating. Sheng Jiang and da zao regulate the protective and nutritive qi and harmonize the stomach qi. Zhi gan cao, the envoy, harmonizes the actions of the other herbs. Based on the combination of these herbs, the main function is to release externally-contracted wind-cold at the greater yang stage.
