Description:

The daily dose of 7.5g (3 unit packets) contains 0.70g of Coptis, Scute and Rhubarb Formula extract powder:

Rhubarb (Da huang) …………….....2.0g

Scutellaria Root (Huang qin) ……...1.0g

Coptis Rhizome (Huang lian) ……..1.0g

Standardization Specification:

This product is standardized to contain 5.7-13.4 mg/day of Berberine, 26.4-49.2 mg/day of Baicalin, and 9.3-28.3 mg/day of Anthraquinone.

TCM Formulation Strategy:

This prescription is mainly used for excess heat with hyperactive fire in the middle burner. Huang lian clears the fire in the heart and middle burner. Huang qin clears fire in the upper burner. Da huang eliminates heat evil by purgation, guiding fire downwards so that it is eventually eliminated by purgation. So these three herbs work together to clear the upper and middle burner heat.

Dosage and Administration:

The usual adult dose is 7.5g/day orally in 3 divided doses before or between meals. The dosage may be adjusted according to the patient's age, body weight, and symptoms.
