TCM Formulation Strategy:

The chief ingredient, ban xia, warms the stomach and directs rebellious qi downward. The primary function of the formula is to stop vomiting, and the rather large dosage of the deputy herb, sheng jiang, helps the chief herb accomplish this task by warming the stomach and directing its qi downward. The assistant herb, fu ling, strengthens the transporting function of the spleen and transforms the congested fluids in the interior. So this formula leaches out congested fluids and directs stomach qi downward.

Dosage and Administration:

The usual adult dose is 7.5g/day orally in 3 divided doses before or between meals. The dosage may be adjusted according to the patient's age, body weight, and symptoms.
