Liver imbalances are central to most chronic conditions involving fatigue, poor digestion and menstrual disorders. By focusing on the twelve zang-fu syndromes of the liver, most liver disorders can be effectively treated with Chinese herbal medicine. In this course we will discuss the chronic conditions listed here, as well as Hepatitis C, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, esophageal reflux and depression. We will also talk about the use of Chinese medicine for support during chemotherapy, as well as advanced cirrhosis.

The course will examine relevant liver zang-fu pathology, and the use of Chinese herbal formulas, with special attention to the use of individual herbal ingredients. We will look at classical prescriptions, modern Chinese hospital formulas, and the recommendations of some of the master herbalists.
