Shanghai Yue Yang
Integrated Medicine Hospital, which is affiliated with Shanghai University
of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), is a Class-A Municipal General Hospital,
integrating medical care, education,
and research. The hospital is the only Municipal Integrated Medicine Hospital
in Shanghai established by the Chinese National TCM Administration Bureau with
1.1 million outpatient visits and 10,000 inpatient admission every year (over
600 beds). The clinic center was first established in 1952. Many famous TCM
doctors in Shanghai have practiced in this hospital. The hospital attracts
mostly famous senior specialists of TCM in the eastern area of China, therefore
it has a renowned reputation in the medical domain of TCM. In 2005, the World
Health Organization (WHO) established its Shanghai International Standard
Clinical Training Center for Acupuncture and Tuina. In the past 30 yeaers, the
hospital has provided multi-language clinical training in the areas of
acupuncture, Tuina, rehabilitation, internal medicine, gynecology, dermatology
and pediatrics to students from over 100 countries and regions.
Department of Acupuncture:
The Department of Acupuncture was established in 1952. Currently there are 19
doctors and practitioners in the department. Its inpatient facility has 15 beds
admitting patients who need inpatient care. Inheriting the medical experiences
of famous acupuncture doctors in Shanghai and reserving traditional acupuncture
therapy, this department administers successful treatments for diseases of the
urogenital system such as urination disorder; diseases of motor-nervous system
such as apoplexy sequela, peripheral facial paralysis, pediatric cerebral palsy,
prolapsed lumbar intravertebral disc; diseases of immune system such as
ulcerative colitis, anaphylaxis asthma; diseases of gynecology such as
dysmenorrhea, chronic backache and arthralgia by combining multi-medical methods
of Chinese traditional and western medicine with modern acupuncture equipments.
The department features acupuncture treatments for obesity and drug addiction as
well.
Department of Gynecology:
The Department of Gynecology is one of the old est
TCM gynecology specialties established in Shanghai in the 1950’s. Under revered
OBGYN doctors, Prof. Dr. Zhu Nan Sun and Dr. Shen Zhong Li, the department has
lead the specialty to become the Shanghai municipal specialty in 1998 and the
national leading specialty in 2002.
Currently the department has 2 professors, 4 associated professors, 4 assistant
professors and 2 resident physicians. On averagy, the group sees 3000 to 4000
out patients monthly. The main diseases often seen at the department are
hysteromyoma, dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, infertilitas feminis, habitual
abortion, menopausal syndrome, etc.
Department of Dermatology:
The department of dermatology has 6 doctors and practitioners. This department
treats out patients only. Based upon the theories of TCM, skin diseases are
physically affecting the external part of the body, but this external appearance
is caused by disorders of the internal body. With methods of integrated
medicine, which have the effect to adjust the internal conditions of the organs
and bowels, this department has found great success in treating various kinds of
skin diseases, such as: psoriasis, herpes zoster, acne, erysipelas, etc.
